Stiffness Maximization by Sheet Thickness Optimization

Sheet thickness optimization is an algorithm developed by Meshparts based on topology optimization. On the one hand, this guarantees a global optimum of results. On the other hand, the results are nevertheless easy to interpret and suitable for production. The ratio of stiffness to mass can often be increased by 30% or more.
In order to demonstrate the procedure, we demonstrate the sheet thickness optimization on the basis of a machine slide. In this application the static stiffness is maximized - with constant mass. The rigidity in Y and Z-directions could be increased by 40 %.
